We welcome you to the Soundiron Angklung. This library is a full-ranged traditional tuned percussion instrument originating from Indonesia, dating back to roughly the 7th Century AD. Over the past thousand years, it has spread widely throughout Southeast Asia and Polynesia and can be heard in a variety of traditional and modern music, from gamelan orchestras to pop bands and jazz ensembles.

Welcome to The Drinking Piano by Soundiron! This fat-bottomed monster upright has a classic beer hall sound, evoking images of the roaring 20s and pre-war 30s. It's got all of the brutal wear and tear that you'd expect from a hundred-year-old instrument that has been played hard and put away wet, night after night. With a fat, wide and close sound, it puts you right on the bench with the yellow, cracked ivories under your fingers. It was recorded right up against the strings in a small, slightly reflective hall, giving it all the presence of a dry studio recording with just a hint of live ambiance.

The idea of the washing machine as a piece of musical equipment, while not unheard of, has been fairly limited in its scope. Generally youll see the white cube playing a rudimentary spin cycle beat behind a mediocre guitarist who is only vaguely aware of the naturally occurring music which is constantly present in our modern human environment. The washing machine will play this beat dutifully, knowing that it isnt respected for musical talent like its ancestor the washboard. We spend so much less time with the modern washing machine, than the folks of previous generations did with the washboard, that weve become coldly detached from it. The washing machine happily does all the work, never complaining, and still we complain about laundry day. If we just took a little time to talk to our washing machines we may find out that they are treasure troves of musical potential.
