STAR-CD is a multipurpose one "heavy" CFD-package development of CD-adapco group (formerly known as Computational Dynamics Ltd), the first to include a procedure for the so-called "Moving mesh".
Efficient algorithm parallelization decisions based on application of the finite volume method, in combination with the unique methods of automated partitioning flow region allow to simulate tasks of any geometric complexity. One of the first areas of the wide application of the program was the automotive industry, followed by STAR-CD has spread across industries. The quality assurance program is the extensive cooperation with industrial corporations, engineering firms and research centers (Daimler-Chrysler, Imperial College, Aerospatiale-Missiles, etc.).
