STAR-CD is a multipurpose one "heavy" CFD-package development of CD-adapco group (formerly known as Computational Dynamics Ltd), including procedures for the so-called first "Moving mesh". Efficient algorithm parallelization decisions based on the application of the method of finite volumes, combined with unique methods of automated partitioning flow region allow to simulate tasks of any geometric complexity.
One of the first areas of the program has been widely used automotive industry, then STAR-CD has spread across industries. The quality assurance program is extensive collaboration with industrial corporations, engineering firms and research centers (Daimler-Chrysler, Imperial College, Aerospatiale-Missiles, etc.).
